Spermidine – A Potential Solution Against Cardiovascular Problems

*This is a summary of the findings from various studies and articles. Further information and details on this study are located in the links below.*

Cardiovascular disease – a definition of the leading cause of death worldwide.

The cardiovascular disease originates in the heart muscle and/or the blood vessel system. It includes hypertension, coronary heart disease, myocardial infarction (heart attack) or stroke.

The pathological cause is usually arteriosclerosis, which is the thickening, hardening and loss of elasticity of arterial walls. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death worldwide and responsible for every second death, especially in industrial countries.

There are many risk factors that contribute to cardiovascular disease including age and stress, but also lifestyle factors such as smoking, obesity and malnutrition. Underlying diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure and/or high cholesterol can also lead to cardiovascular disease.

Spermidine – a potential solution against cardiovascular problems?

Heart strengthening supplements may be the answer to preventing mini heart attacks and other cardiovascular issues. Spermidine has already been repeatedly proven to have a life-prolonging effect in rodents. In particular, the activation of autophagy through spermidine supplementation leads to the rejuvenation or protection of basically every single cell. This means that spermidine literally decreases the aging process. Because of that, spermidine may reduce the risks of developing age-associated damages in all parts of the human body.

Aging leads to the stiffening of the heart muscles. When that happens, the heart can no longer be sufficiently filled with blood. This can potentially increase cardiovascular system failure. Spermidine can prevent that from happening through increasing the elasticity of the heart muscle.

Spermidine against cardiovascular malfunctions – A scientific point of view.

A recent and exciting in vivo study found that an increased oral intake of spermidine has a cardioprotective effect in age-related heart failure. More precisely, the study revealed that spermidine reduces the intensity of heart attacks and works against the typical enlargement of the entire heart muscle after an attack. In addition to that, spermidine suppresses the oxidative damage caused by the attack and thus also reduces apoptosis, which is the cell’s “suicide” controlled by gene expression.

In addition to that, various additional studies conducted on mice and rats indicate that spermidine improves the diastolic function, the left ventricular elasticity and the mitochondrial function of the heart muscle. It was also shown that spermidine also reverses age-associated vascular calcification, dissolves atherosclerotic plaques and lowers blood pressure, eventually delaying a potential hypertension-induced heart failure as well.

Based on the studies listed above, it can be concluded that spermidine usage should be a matter very close to the heart for everyone. The benefits of a healthy heart are priceless.Remember - YOUR LIFE. YOUR DECISION.
